Mood music for listening and relaxation for “Rainy Days and Mondays”
When you need some mood music for listening and relaxation what is your favorite go-to? We all have different songs that put us into different moods.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, do you remember the song, “Rainy Days and Mondays” from the Carpenters? If you haven’t heard it, supposedly these two together will always get you down.
Well, today it is raining, it’s Monday and I am down, so maybe there is some truth to that! Whenever I find myself feeling this way, I have to do a little check-in with myself to see what my predominate thoughts and worries are at the time.
I know the events probably causing some of this feeling. My youngest daughter just turned double-digits (where is my baby?) and my Mom and Dad’s health woes (you can read more about that here if you would like “How to Survive Caring for Elderly Parents and Children at the Same Time”).
My parent’s health struggles are going to be a long battle. So, I need ways to cope and help them in a positive manner.
Changing the “Channel” on my Mood
First and foremost, I need to change my mood because my being in a funk is not really helpful to anyone else. In this instance, I turned on our local pop station and soon found myself singing along and felt my mood lifting as I drove.
My change in mood made sense after reading an article on the power of music on our moods, “How Music Affects our Moods”. Music can have a definite impact on our mood as most of us have experienced in our own lives.
Music’s Impact on Your Mood
Music really does have a large impact on your state of mind and on the ability to change your state of mind. Think about your brain like an antenna – whatever it is tuned to is generally what you will receive as the outcome. Happy, positive sounds tend to yield a happy, positive mood, and angry or sad music tend to yield an equally crappy mood.
This particular article does note sad music can have a positive outcome sometimes. Usually when a person is going through a breakup or heartache, the sad music serves like a friend who understands what you are going through. Personally, I would limit the amount of time I spent wallowing though!
If I am already in a bad mood and then I compound it by listening to some crying in my beer kind of music, well that equals an insanity maker for me. Please don’t do this to yourself. Be careful and pay attention to what your antenna is tuned to.
With that in mind, what are some of your favorite mood changing music? One that I like: This is gonna be the best day of my life, by American Authors.
